Braavos Cities is led by Dr. Mark Lutter. Mark is a globally recognized expert on new cities and special economic zones. He has worked with projects in Latin America, Africa, and Asia in a variety of capacities, including fundraising, regulatory advising, and executive recruitment. He has a PhD in economics from George Mason University. His work has been cited in the New Yorker, Chicago Tribune, and Financial Times. He sits on the board of several nonprofits, including the Charter Cities Institute and New Science. He has raised money from some of the most recognizable names in technology.
Prior to launching Braavos Cities, Mark was Executive Director and founder of the Charter Cities Institute, a nonprofit building the ecosystem for charter cities. Through this work, Mark built a network of stakeholders in special economic zones and new city developments, including, experts in law, urban planning, community building and investors. Depending on the needs of a project, Mark can bring relevant subject matter expertise to the table to maximize the probability of success. Braavos Cities prides itself on fully understanding the relevant stakeholders and structuring engagement to align long term incentives.
